Togane City
During the Meiji period the Togane area consisted of 56 villages, the Musha district and one central town. On April 1, 1954, the Togane town, Fukuoka village, and the Gen village merged into one city. Soon after, a few more amalgamations of neighboring villages took place creating the current Togane city.
Togane City is located at the east center of Chiba Prefecture, and approximately the center of the Kujyuukuri coast line. A primary city in the Sanbu district, Togane has been developing for many years as an agricultural and commerce city. The rapid train to Tokyo along with convenience in transportation has made Togane City an ideal suburban city for commuters.
Further development of Togane City took place in September, 1994 becoming the regional district of the area and a city. The population of Togane City continues to grow with a high rate along with housing developments in the area. In recent years, the population of 35000 people grew when the town became a city and currently is reaching about 60000 people.
